STREET AND STREAM CLEANUP

Orono will hold its annual street and stream cleanup on Saturday, May 12th.  The day will start with meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Town Office at 59 Main Street to form teams that will go to various areas of town for the cleanup.

At 11:30 a.m. everyone is to meet back at the fire station, where a BBQ will be held for all volunteers for helping out.

RENTAL REGISTRATIONS DUE

Back in June the Code Enforcement Office sent out letters and application forms to all property owners who own rental property within the Town of Orono.  The letter asked that all rental units be registered on the appropriate form and include the rental fee of $25 per unit.  Those rental registrations are due by September 1st. 

If you have not sent in your appliction forms and the required fees for your rental units, please do so now.

Rental Registration

Three years ago the Town adopted a Rental Registration Program that required all rental properties to be registered with the Town.  This includes filing the appropriate application form and a fee of $25 per rental unit. 

The ordinance allows the renting of units to no more than 3 unrelated people or a traditional family setting.  You must include a sketch with the application indicating parking areas and where trash recepticles are located.

Street & Stream Cleanup

STREAM & STREET CLEAN UP 2011

Orono’s sixth annual Stream & Street Cleanup Day was held on Saturday, May 14, 2010.  The volunteer crew was slightly smaller than last year, most likely due to the threat of rain.  However, approximately forty-five local citizens, business people, Scout groups, and Town employees joined in to help remove trash from our streams and surrounding areas.  Orono resident and stormwater expert Phil Ruck gave an informative presentation about the importance of...

6th Annual Stream Cleanup

The Town of Orono is gearing up for their 6th annual stream/street cleanup.  Teams will be going out to predetermined areas on Saturday, May 14th to clean up those areas.

Everyone should meet at the Orono Town Council Chambers, 59 Main Street, at 9 a.m. for the mandatory safety meeting.  Groups will be sent to various locations and then meet back at the fire station for a thank you BBQ.  Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes.  We will have some gloves available for people to wear.
